long may you run

what a neat piece....

.

by brook&lyn/via shopbop. anything with a stone in it is going to have my vote...i'm very embarrassed to admit what a crystal/stone loving freak i am. i had a serious problem back in the early 2000's, and i have quite the collection even now which i sincerely believe still have the ability to bring healing powers. i know, i know..hippie.
well, anyway, this piece is unique and think about all the ways it would jazz up your simple summer frock. i obviously will not be donnin this beaut with my big prego self, but i can imagine the possibilities in july after my sweet babycakes is here & all we have to do is have fun in the sun!!

i'm feelin you

my good friend is getting hitched next weekend. i was in panic mode trying to find a dress, while designing a show with a director who has a very busy schedule, finishing grad school, etc. etc. etc.
enter, winter kate.
i absolutely love this line created by the lovely, nicole richie. goddamn, has she come a long way from her days of tramping it up with paris hilton... (who?) it just shows, how trucker hats were all the rage in 2002-03 and well, now, if you wear one, well, let's just hope you don't go there anymore...
winter kate offers a collection of velvet, chiffon & laced bohemian variety. i love flowy, majestic, bohemian, rock n roll anything...and am very tempted to wear one of her other dresses from the fall collection that i purchased. (see below) however, i seized the opportunity to scoop this hot little ticket as well. and for only $165, this dress is not breakin the bank at all. i will wear this tons, to openings, dates, and some crazy nights out on the town.

nicole modeling her own design! so cute!

ok, so now, my not so economical purchase. & just so you can see the range, and why i am so into this line, i will share with you another dress i purchased by winter kate.

it's burnt out velvet...!probably the coolest type of fabric in the world. the feel of this is butter and i adore the golds and purples that morph colors on each sway. but at $395- its not exactly a steal. however, i was willing to make a sacrifice for something truly unique. so, not really certain at this point which will be the dress for the wedding, but i'll try to post a picture or two of the wedding and my time in chicago next weekend! can't wait!!
now if only i could find a pair of shoes!

favorite one

in a shopping mood. well yah, "been working my butt off, now its time for some fun! gona go to the moon, gona go to the sun!" haha. those groovie ghoulies lyrics will always have a special place in my heart. in fact, they were my senior year quote in the yearbook..what a dork!
well, new digs for the man

scored on major sale @ urban
love the triangle and the inside is all dream-tastic. score!!!!
& couldn't resist this one too.

it reminds me of the vampire suit that eiko designed for bram stoker's dracula...this shirt is way too rad. its like a troll warlord. love love love it. though i have to admit this is more my style than his, well.....he'll like it anyway. ;)

alacazam put a sham down

man
i havent done any posting on clothes lately. well mostly because i've been broke and gloomy.
yah, even a happy- go- lucky gal, such as yours truly, gets down in the dumps sometime....
insert ::::: blah bloop blob
i try to pick up shifts around school doing odd ends to make a little extra spending cash..
well thank goodness for that! because i've been able to save up a little and buy some new things!!
most important!!!!!!
are these:

MARTIN MARGIELA DEGRADE COWBOY BOOTS!!!
i scored them super super super cheap
and i couldn't resist the opportunity to own these..both ethereal & man made given their nature of being cowboy boots!
and i have lots of people who disagree with me on this purchase. my friend thinks they look like a pair of cowboy boots that have been attacked by a spray can...
he gave me a good laugh!
either way, these are gems & i'm so thrilled to add them to my collection.

what goes on in your mind

HOLY CRAP!
HOW much would I LOOOOOOOOOVE to wear this to yale's big design party this december!
ohh god..its so gorgeous.

at a $520 bones, dont think i will be purchasing anytime soon..but hopefully the sale will come up and scoring helmut lang at $300 would be a small price to pay so that i can look sharp.
its super abstract and i really don't know what is going on with this piece..but i think thats my immediate attraction. otherwise, i dont know how well the pleats would look over the breast area. thats always a tricky subject for me-but i would love to try it on and try to work with it...i am thinking my hair blow dried out, super straight with some minimal makeup and a nice black suede stacked pump.
p.s. what the hell is going on with this model...?

you give me fever

so i don't know why its taken me this long to come across the awesomely talented julia deville, but i am happy to have found her now.

aside from her insane taxidermy pieces, she's jewelry artist as well. having a love for history, death, animals from a young age, she incorporates all of this into her work. her jewelry is particularly meaningful and quite romantic- inspired by jewelry of 14th-18th century, this idea that a piece of jewelry would be worn in wake of a death..a memento for a love loss, mourning jewelry. gorgeous pieces assembled from black diamonds, coffins and skulls. quite exquisite. just reading about the history of what inspires her jewelry is quite wonderful to think about from a costume design perspective. check out her website...you will definitely want to buy her out on everything. i adore the taxidermy work and love the egg repositories.
you'll find some of her jewelry incorporates actual taxidermy pieces, birds woven into broaches - just stunning.
her vision of death is also very wonderful to me. in many cultures, or different times, i find the way people except or honor death to be so fascinating. it gives you clarity and beauty. having dealt with the loss of a very close friend recently, i just can not forget his importance to me ..how he surrounds me and is a daily thought...i feel like in american culture its so traditional..the way death is handled. its interesting to think about her work and the way she identifies and only uses animals who have died of natural causes in her work...i even read that she donated her body once she dies.

i think i'd be crazy not to scoop something up from her. its by far some of the most unique pieces i've seen in a while.

for more info check out this awesome exhibition from acidolatte blog...
