youre never gonna stop all the teenage leather & booze

kim gordon for urban outfitters? oh by god, i think i've seen it all in my short life. this is strange. i have a love/hate for urban. mostly hate. why you ask? well i think that they rip artists off. i think they are a massive conglomerate who grabs trends and marks it up at a 400% increase. hey creative people of the universe, you know most of the crap you buy at uo you can find for a cheap penny at a thrift store? well...if you don't , now you know..go off and be somebody.
even more, i knew this girl who literally bought urban outfitters off the visual display. like the way those jacks dressed the manni's she would come in and dress herself. and while she was mentally ill..(i'll explain what a psycho she was later) she thought her sense of style was good bc uo told her to. it was pathetic on many levels. like how can u really think you are being unique and stylish if you are just dressing like everyone else or dressing from a prescribed formula? uhhhh, hello??
the only time that place is good is when its on the sale rack..and trust me, if you wait long enough, it will always be on the sale rack. i think its pretty strange how great brands like corpus or obesity & speed have collaborated with uo. i understand we are in a recession and for indie brands this is just helping them pay their fucking electricity..but i still think it sucks...knowing how urban bites off people all the time and has a history of screwing young designers.
with that being said...i don't dislike the clothes or styles that obesity & speed and/or any of the other collections-the stuff is great! i just wish it didn't have the uo name attached. but i guess people need to pay their bills..and no matter how bad or whatever, we all sell out in some way eventually.
i don't encourage people to buy their complete wardrobe from urban and i dont mind if things here and there make their way from urban into your closet, god knows i buy things from them from time to time (very on sale though)--just dont be a gd-ed model for any fucking corporate bullshit..bc that makes you part of the system...and thats fucking lame.
ok, so now, kim gordon designs for urban outfitters..whats the verdict?

ugh, well personally this is boring to me. nothing special and i can't seem to understand the comparision to francoise hardy. who by far is quite an icon and beautiful..but maybe kim means she wanted it low key and simple styles, but i still think there is something cooler about francoise's style that i dont read from kim's mirror/dash collection. it just kinda reminds me of stuff you can get at target..its nothing special. i want PAAAAAAA-DAOW from kim gordon. ...not yawny yawn dreamlandsville. i guess i just get super charged from sonic youth --and this is all kinda letting me down. where's the badassery? rockin chords-messy-tressy-stand up.

...maybe i was hoping it would be more like kim gordon //sonic youth in its prime...

i don't know. maybe i'm wrong and im open to your suggestions.
